Foundations of Strength

the first Saturday of the month in Edinburgh
£45

Tidal Yoga
115 Leith Walk, EH6 8NP

Upcoming dates

-Saturday 4th July 3-5pm (2 hours)

Are you curious about strength training but unsure how to begin? I’m Emma- a 2-time British Weightlifting Champion and experienced Yoga and Pilates teacher- and I’ve designed this workshop to empower you to strength train with confidence.

In this practical session, I’ll share the benefits of strength training before we explore the mechanics of the "Big Four" foundational patterns: the squat, hinge (deadlift), press, and pull. Using body weight and props, we will try movements like press-ups and goblet squats, breaking down the technique and mobility required to perform them safely and effectively.

Drawing on my decade of competitive and coaching experience, I will also share the best breathing, mobility, and core exercises to complement your training. You’ll leave with a sample home training program using small weights, plus advice on how to translate these skills into lifting heavy in a gym setting.

Whether you do Yoga or Pilates and are looking for more resistance, are mid-life or older and focused on lifting for muscle mass and bone density, or are just wanting to feel more confident in a gym environment, this workshop provides the foundations for a resilient, capable body.

Learn to Lift

the third Sunday of the month in Edinburgh
£75

Run Strong Studio
We Run Edinburgh, 19-21 Arthur St, EH6 5DA

Upcoming dates

-Sunday 19th July 2-5pm (3 hours)

Whether you are looking for the next step after my Foundations of Strength workshop, or you already use the gym and want to refine your barbell and free-weight technique - this workshop is for you.

Held in a full gym environment, it’s a supportive, small-group space where we can take our time, try new things, and get your individual questions answered. As with all my workshops, Learn to Lift is open to everyone - all body types, sizes, abilities, ages.

What we’ll cover:

Dumbbells and Kettlebells: In my introductory workshop, the weights we use are very light. In this session, you’ll get the chance to try the foundational dumbbell and kettlebell exercises with heavier loads, learning how to brace, breathe, and stabilise your body as the weight goes up.

Barbell Training: We’ll break down the technique for the classic barbell Back Squat, Conventional Deadlift, and Strict Press.

Gym Kit & Confidence: Learn how to navigate a gym floor. We will practice setting up a squat rack, adjusting safeties, loading plates, and choosing the right barbells and working weights.

Open Coaching & Q&A: With a full three hours, there is plenty of time for individual feedback. We can look closely at your alignment, troubleshoot any movements that feel "off," and answer any specific training questions you have.

You will also leave the workshop with a training programme. It includes flexible options for both home and gym workouts, so you can continue building your strength wherever you choose to train.

Roll & Release

the last Sunday of the month in Edinburgh
£45

Hillside Yoga Collective
3A Montgomery St Ln, EH7 5JT

Upcoming dates

-Sunday 28th June 3-5pm (2 hours)

In this Roll & Release workshop we use therapy balls (provided) to massage the body. The grippy texture of the balls creates friction which can improve the glide between fascial layers. This can help relieve aches and pains, improve mobility and breathing, and has a wonderfully calming effect on the nervous system. Expect breathwork, foot stretches, back massage, neck release, and lots of lying down.
