About Emma

My
Story
Beyond
Yoga
Hello! I'm Emma, and I'm so glad you're here. For me, Yoga began as a way to reconnect with the freedom and creativity of dance, which was a huge part of my childhood. I felt like myself when I was dancing, and it had huge therapeutic benefits. I now feel this from my Yoga practice, which continues to evolve, inspired by the balance between empowering, playful movement and the profound quiet of breathwork, rest, and contemplation.
I'm passionate about sharing the deep wisdom of Yoga and making it accessible to every body. My formal training began with a 200-hour course in 2014 from Yoga Bodhi in Bath with Simona Hernandez and Angela Roberts. I've expanded my expertise through a year long dedicated anatomy course with Gary Carter, a 50-hour certification in Restorative Training, and I am a qualified mat Pilates teacher too.
Beyond my certifications, I've had the incredible opportunity to learn from a wide range of inspiring teachers and methods. My approach has been shaped by experiences in India learning Hatha Yoga, by attending Scaravelli-inspired classes and retreats with Diane Long, Caroline Reid and Tanya Love, and through the teachings of John Stirk, Donna Farhi and many more. I've also been influenced by the Feldenkrais Method, which has deepened my understanding of somatic movement. A mentorship with Jill Miller, focusing on myofascial release and functional movement, hugely informs what I currently teach.
My passion for understanding the body's capabilities led me to a competitive career in Olympic Weightlifting. For over a decade, I’ve been a dedicated athlete, becoming a two-time British Champion and a Commonwealth Silver Medallist in 2023. Most recently, I placed 2nd at the British Championships in 2025. My experience as a certified BWL Level 1 coach, and working towards my Level 2, has given me a deep appreciation for the powerful connection between mind, strength, and mobility—all of which inform my teaching.
I love to explore, whether that's through my passion for climbing, swimming, and travel, or simply by seeking out good food and coffee wherever I am. After growing up on the Wirral, I've called many places home, including London, Bath, and Perth, before finally settling in Edinburgh.
Alongside my work as a Yoga teacher, I've gained valuable experience working in sports development and marketing, and as a studio manager at Yoga Bodhi and Soul Pilates. These experiences have given me a great appreciation for the community and business aspects of wellness.
My personal journey has been shaped by a great loss, and I am a young widow following the death of my husband, Steven, in October 2024 from a brain tumour. Navigating this has only strengthened my belief in the healing power of mindful movement and stillness that I share in my classes.
